About Me

My name is Wenqing Qian (钱文清). I am now a doctoral candidate in the Michigan Program of Survey and Data Science (MPSDS) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. My research interests include multiple imputation, combining data from multiple sources, and Bayesian statistics. I also work on survey data quality and am enthusiastic about applying survey data to social and health studies.

I was a graduate student research assistant (GSRA) at the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) from 2022 to 2026, working in the Psychosocial and Aging Group led by Prof. Jacqui Smith. I am (still) investigating some data quality issues of the Life History Mail Survey (LHMS), including item nonresponse and data consistency.

During academic years 2025-26 and 2026-27, I co-lead the Survey Methods Lab, which is a student-run weekly seminar series for students in the MPSDS to share their thoughts and communicate with faculty visitors.

Previously, I was a guest researcher at the Department of Digital and Computational Demography in the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) between 2021 and 2023, mainly in collaboration with Dr. Ole Hexel (Check his personal website here!) and Prof. Emilio Zagheni.

I got my Master’s degree in survey and data science from the University of Michigan in 2024, and my Bachelor’s degree in statistics from Fudan University in 2022.
